Hosting Services FAQs

What is Cloud Computing?
The "cloud" refers to a pool of servers that share resources over the Internet. Data manipulation and management isn't limited to a single, static machine. This allows for greater flexibility in developing rich website content and web-based applications across multiple programming languages and platforms. Because resources are allocated and used as needed across the cloud, a cloud environment allows for greater economy of scale, as well.
What is the benefit of cloud versus standard hosting?
The key benefit for most companies is cost. For starters, cloud hosting is generally less expensive and allows for greater economy of scale. You pay only for the resources you're using on the "cloud," rather than investing in a standalone server and paying a provider to maintain that server for you, or paying for a set amount of resource use each month, regardless of the actual needs of your site.
How long does it take to set up email hosting with you?
Typically, the process goes quickly. When you sign up with our email service, we'll immediately set up your mailboxes in our system. If we also host your domain, we'll then change the DNS settings to point to our mail server. If you're hosting your domain elsewhere, you can either do this step yourself or provide us with login information, and we'll make the changes for you. We'll provide you with detailed instructions on setting up your email software to retrieve your messages from our server and walk you through the process of transitioning your mail.
Will your email work with my current email software?
Yes. Our email is compatible with any POP or IMAP software, including Outlook, Thunderbird, Windows Mail, Apple Mail, Eudora, and more. We also provide free webmail access to your accounts, so you can stay connected when you're on the road.
How much storage is available for each mailbox?
Each mailbox comes with up to 10GB of storage available. More details can be found on our pricing page.
What's the file size limit for attachments?
ou are able to send and receive attachments up to 50MB in size.
Is my email secure?
Yes. All email transmissions to and from our server travel over secure HTTPS connections and are encrypted using the latest SSL encryption techniques. Our servers themselves are housed in secure, limited-access facilities, where we employ the latest hardware and software security measures to ensure the integrity and privacy of your data.
Are all of my email accounts stored on the same server?
No. We distribute your accounts over our entire network of servers, to ensure against a domain-wide outage, should we have issues with any one server or server pool. What's more, we have built a number of industry-leading safeguards and redundancies into the system - along with regular backups - to ensure that no mail gets lost, even if a server does go down. This is true of both standard and Exchange hosting.
Can I set up an archive account to capture all incoming and outgoing mail for my domain?
Yes. Email archive accounts are available for your domain. These accounts allow you to track all incoming and outgoing messages that cross our mail servers
How often is the data on my website/email account backed up?
We do nightly backups of the data in our system. We also maintain your site across multiple servers and multiple secure, environmentally controlled locations, to ensure the integrity of your email and website data.
What happens if I run into an issue with my email or website hosting in the middle of the night on a Saturday or on a holiday? Do I have to wait until the next business day to get it resolved?
No. We offer live telephone, e-mail, and chat support 24x7x365. If you ever run into any issues or have any questions about your hosting, day or night, help is just a phone call or click away. When you call, you'll be connected with a live person, generally within 60 seconds, and we'll have the situation resolved as quickly as we can.
